Shane O’Brien

I am currently CMOS++ Programme Manager  in the MicroNano Systems Centre, Tyndall National Institute with interests in technology transfer and commercialisation of research outputs. I completed the MSc (Innovation, Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship) program in the UCC- Cork University Business School (CUBS) under the direction of Dr. Brian O’Flaherty in September 2019.

I graduated from University College Cork with a Ph.D. (Materials Chemistry) in 2000. I researched the synthesis and characterization of periodic mesostructural silica and doped-silica materials under the supervision of Prof. M.A. Morris.

Before commencing my current role, I have worked as Contract Researcher, Post Doctoral Researcher and then Staff Researcher at Tyndall-UCC on a number of projects involving thin-film coatings by sol-gel, aerosol-assisted CVD and ALD coating methods with Dr. Ian Povey.
